HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

On December 7th from 2pm until 4pm the Alabama Theatre will have an open house. Tours will include the new Hill Arts Center Banquet Hall, the new Hill Center Meeting Room still under construction and tours of the Alabama and Lyric Theatres. Walk on the Lyric stage and walk back in history where the greats of Vaudeville walked.
The Alabama Theatre and Hill Center will both have large fully decorated Christmas trees and decorations will be throughout. You will hear music from the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ all afternoon played by members of the theatre organ staff. Our organ crew chief Larry Donaldson will be on hand to answer questions and let you peek into the secret organ chambers to see how it all works. Our Technical Director Jeff Kizziah will be in the projection booth to let you see how the picture gets on the screen. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the theatre to answer questions.
Refreshments will be in the Alabama Theatre and Hill Center. Holly Burrow of the Hill Center will be available to answer questions and provide literature about the new center.
THE ALABAMA THEATRE NEEDS YOUR HELP
The bad economy has hit the Alabama Theatre and low attendance this summer has left us with very low cash reserves. Since the end of the year is upon us and tax season is near this would be the time to help the Alabama Theatre, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Anything you donate is tax-deductable.
PIANO

The new Hill Arts Center needs a piano and the type of piano we need is a 6-foot studio grand like the one pictured above. If you have a piano and it is no longer being played you can turn it into a real asset by donating it to the Hill Center. Call the theatre office and talk to Cecil 252 –2262 ext.103 to make the necessary arrangements. A plate with your name will be placed on the piano as well as on the donor wall in the Grand Foyer of the Hill Center.
VOLUNTEER AT THE ALABAMA THEATRE

During the year we have many touring shows with famous name artists. These are reserved seat shows that require many ushers. If you would like to volunteer to be an usher please call our Event Coordinator Anthony Mitchell at 205-252-2262 ext. 100. You will need to wear dark slacks/skirt and a white shirt/blouse and bring a flashlight. You will be furnished an usher badge, a soft drink and you will get to see the show free. We have several husband/wife boyfriend/girlfriend teams that come and usher together, a good way to have a cheap date.
