Friends of the Alabama

There are several ways you can be a friend of the Alabama:

CONTRIBUTIONS

Contributions can be made to the Alabama Theatre several different ways: cash, check, credit card, stocks, bonds, and wills. To make a contribution of any kind, call the theatre office (252-2262) or mail your contribution to the Alabama Theatre, 1817 Third Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35203. You will receive a receipt in the mail for tax purposes and all contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS. The Theatre has a large stock portfolio managed by Stern, Agee and Leach. If you wish to place the Alabama in your will we will have our attorney call you to make sure the legal name of the Theatre is correct.

All contributions are sincerely appreciated.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are a key part of our success at the Alabama Theatre. Whether welcoming patrons before a performance, providing patrons with information about the theatre, ushering a group of school children to their respective seats or performing many other vital tasks, our volunteers give the theatre its personal identity. As our most visible hosts and hostesses, volunteers' goal is to make every experience at the theatre enjoyable and memorable for our community. Volunteers are given full involvement and participation in the theaters' activities, meaningful assignments and recognition for work well done. We know that, without our dedicated and gracious volunteers, the vibrant, warm atmosphere that makes the historic Alabama Theatre so very special would not be possible.

General Requirements

The essential requirements to become a volunteer are: interest and enthusiasm for the performing arts, a willingness to serve all patrons of the theatre with care and respect; a high level of congeniality in serving our guests; a professional demeanor and punctuality in all assignments. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Community service credit is available for college and high school students.

Volunteers are needed to serve as children's education program ushers and performance night ushers.

It is the individual's willingness to serve that makes the volunteer program successful. Your acceptance of volunteering indicates an agreement to fulfillthe responsibility for active participation and affirms your earnest support of the principles and ideals of the Alabama Theatre.

Becoming a Volunteer

We would like to hear from anyone in our communitv who has a strong interest and the time to serve on the volunteer staff at the historic Alabama Theatre. Those with previous volunteer experience in this field are especially welcome to apply. We shall gladly train those with no experience.
