SUMMER NEWS LETTER
Warm weather is here and summer isn’t far behind.
With that in mind ……….. Here comes the 2009 Summer Film Series. After 24 years of booking movies, this year was a real challenge. Hollywood does not support film any longer and we like to show film, so about 60 percent of our films will be 35MM film and the rest Hi-DEF DLP video. But please rest easy, we will still have our beautiful 42 foot picture on the largest movie screen in the state. We will have many more films this year in hopes of appealing to a wider audience, and generating more patrons, and more badly needed revenue.

CONSTRUCTION
Up-date on the construction of the new third floor Loft Meeting Room, the progress has been delayed until June because of the high demand for this room during the Dance recital season. But the demolition will start the first or second week in June and construction will follow soon after. This 2,500 square foot room will be suited for birthday parties, anniversary parties, meetings, film screenings and pre-show and post-show parties. This will be a multi-function room with beautiful dark hard wood floors, 9-foot tall windows and a small breakaway room, all serviced by our new elevator.
THEATRE SEATS FOR SALE
We have replaced the old worn out theatre seats on the Dress Circle and Mezzine levels of the theatre and these 500 used theatre seats are for sale.
Prices are 1-4 seats $25 ea, 5-9 seats $20 ea, 10 or more seats $15 each. All are ready for easy pick-up and we need to move these seats as soon as possible. If you would like a larger number of seats we will make you a better deal. These seats have been used in the Alabama theatre for almost 60 years and are really broken-in well. These seats are historic and were completely rebuilt in the early 90’s and replaced in 2001. If you have or think you will be constructing a media room our home theatre you might want to consider these historic seats, call 205-252-2262, ext 103 for more details. Changes in the Alabama Theatre before the start of our new season...
INERMISSION If we have enough funding and enough time when we begin our new live performance season in September, we will have additional restrooms and additional bars to make your intermission visit to the Alabama Theatre a more efficient experience.
DONATIONS
More than ever, because of the economy, the Alabama Theatre needs your donations, we are far behind on the regular donations this year and to continue the normal work of the Alabama Theatre we need to have, at least, $100,000 before the end of the year. The Alabama Theatre is a 501©3 not for profit organization and all donations are tax deductable to the extent of the IRS allowance. Call 205-252-2262 for more information. We take credit cards, checks and even cash.
HILL EVENT CENTER
The Hill Event Center Banquet Hall is the busiest part of the Alabama Theatre complex these days with weddings, receptions, meetings, parties, church services, etc. This part of the theatre seems to be far above the plan that I set for it early in the year. You will be able to see this new hall during our Summer Open House on Sunday June 7th, from 2 pm until 4 pm. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to see the entire Alabama Theatre complex that you have wanted to see such as the attic, projection room, backstage, inside the organ and all the new rooms that make up the banquet hall complex.
